Chimney Rock State Park Master Plan

>> ONLINE COMMENT FORM <<

Project Description > Greenways Incorporated has been commissioned by the State of North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation to prepare a master plan for the 4,300-acre Chimney Rock State Park and surrounding environs. This iconic park is the centerpiece of the Hickory Nut Gorge area, south of Asheville, NC. Greenways Incorporated will conduct a participatory planning process that includes input from local and state residents. We will conduct a thorough evaluation of environmental features of the park. We will also examine current park operations and the future needs of park users. The goal is to produce a 100-year vision, 25-year master plan and 5-year action plan for the State Park.

Public Review and Comment Requested > Residents of North Carolina are encouraged to view and comment on the three alternative concepts for Chimney Rock State Park. The public comment period will remain open until June 23, 2010.
