St. Croix Bike Path, Island of St. Croix , U.S. Virgin Islands
Project Description > Greenways Incorporated is working with Cruzan Bikeways Inc. and the government of St. Croix to plan, design and develop a multi-modal bicycle and pedestrian trail network for the Island of St. Croix, located in the United States Virgin Islands. Greenways Incorporated has been tasked with preparing design and construction documents, environmental permit application, operations and management plan and funding strategy for Phase I of the island wide network. The first phase will begin at Point Udall, the first point of light in the United States, and extend approximately 15 miles to the Hovensa Refinery near Estate Humbug. The route of the path follows Southshore Road. The path will be an off-road, shared use, 12 foot wide trail. The environmental permit process should be completed by the winter 2011 and the island government hopes to break ground on the project in 2011.
