Project Description > Greenways Incorporated is working with the Friends of the St. Croix Bike Path, the government of St. Croix and the National Park Service to plan and develop a multi-modal bicycle and pedestrian trail network for the Island of St. Croix, located in the United States Virgin Islands. Greenways Incorporated has been tasked with defining an overall development framework for the project, identifying sources of funding for project development and providing detailed design development assistance for the first phase of the island-wide pathway system. When complete, the bike path network will extend more than 70 miles throughout the island, from the eastern tip at Point Udall to the town of Fredericksted on the western side of the island. The route of the bike path will make use of existing and abandoned road rights of way, abandoned sugar cane railroad rights of way, riparian corridors and utility corridors to circumvent the island. Greenways Incorporated is using GIS technology to pinpoint the route of the bike path. This work is being supplemented with field survey work to produce a definitive alignment for each phase of the bike path.
