Marion Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Action Plan for West McDowell Junior High, East McDowell Junior High, Eastfield Elementary, Marion Elementary, and Phoenix Academy
Project Description > Greenways Incorporated, teamed with Greene Transportation Solutions, was chosen to complete the Marion SRTS Action Plan. This is the first year of the SRTS Action Plan program, administered by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The team is conducting an analysis of existing conditions and prioritizing engineering solutions surrounding the study schools. The final product will incorporate recommendations for all Five E’s (engineering, education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation). As a comprehensive, action-oriented document, the plan will guide the community and school system in the development of facilities and programs to encourage more children to walk or bike to school in a safer environment.
