Black Mountain Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Action Plan for Black Mountain Elementary and Black Mountain Primary
Project Description > Greenways Incorporated, teamed with Greene Transportation Solutions, was chosen to complete the Black Mountain SRTS Action Plan. This is the first year of the SRTS Action Plan program, administered by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The team is conducting an analysis of existing conditions and prioritizing engineering solutions surrounding the study schools. The final product will incorporate recommendations for all Five E’s (engineering, education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation). As a comprehensive, action-oriented document, the plan will guide the community and school system in the development of facilities and programs to encourage more children to walk or bike to school in a safer environment.
Please attend the drop-in style public workshop on Friday, June 11th, at the Black Mountain Primary School. Come provide your ideas for making it safer to walk and bike to school AND enter a drawing for a bike helmet giveaway. There will be two opportunities for input:
4pm-6pm: Black Mountain Primary School Gym during After-School Care.
6pm-8pm: Black Mountain Primary School Courtyard, during the annual PTO picnic.
