Mount Holly, North Carolina

The Mount Holly Greenprint > In March 2007, the Mount Holly Community Development Foundation (MHCDF) commissioned with Greenways Incorporated (GWI) to prepare a citywide Greenprint. Typically, a greenprint is a type growth strategy that emphasizes land conservation to ensure quality of life, clean air and water, recreation, and economic health. Another way to illustrate the purpose of a greenprint is to think about how a blueprint is a guide for building a home, and how a greenprint is a guide for building a community. Mount Holly’s community greenprint identifies potential types of greenspace to be protected, as well as strategies to enhance the city’s overall sustainability.

The Greenprint is intended as a guide for not only the MHCDF, but also for the City of Mount Holly and other partners who are interested in the future of this community. Greenways Incorporated worked closely with both the MHCDF and City officials to make certain that the agenda set forth in this document is one that is commonly desired and mutually beneficial. Furthermore, a broad public input process helped to ensure that Mount Holly residents provided direct input for the plan’s development.
