Project Description > The Town of Davidson has begun an open space planning process with a comprehensive natural assets inventory, based in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Greenways Incorporated is conducting extensive GIS data collection, analysis, and modeling to help determine areas in need of protection. The goal of this inventory is to identify unique and important landscapes that should be protected from future development.
Greenways Incorporated will develop a GIS database that maps and describes all important open spaces with the Town of Davidson's ETJ. We are completing training in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for field evaluation. We will also address the prioritization of open spaces. We anticipate our project work being completed by the Summer of 2008, leading into a more comprehensive open space planning process that addresses policy and implementation.
