One of the biggest assets in the City of Mount Holly, North Carolina is the Catawba River corridor. This 500 foot wide river winds its way along the eastern edge of the City and provides many opportunities for recreational development, while in close proximity to the downtown core. The Catawba River parallels many great destinations that, when connected, would allow residents and visitors to easily explore the City and river corridor. A multi-functional greenway system is an ideal facility to provide those connections.
Greenways Incorporated was hired by the Mount Holly Community Development Foundation to complete the Catawba River Corridor Greenway Master Plan in 2007. Following on that successful Master Plan, Greenways Incorporated is now completing Construction Documents for nearly 4 miles of the master planned route. This work involves the detailed design and engineering of the trail route along with coordination with multiple landowners and jurisdictions to achieve the best trail design possible. Both the Foundation and the City are in a great position to have the entire Catawba River Corridor complete and constructed within the next 3-5 years.
