Brittain Mylacraine has been practicing landscape architecture for three years. She joined GWI at the start of 2008 with the desire to incorporate environmental planning, urban design, and greenway planning projects into her background.
Since joining GWI, Brittain has contributed to the following planning efforts: The Jacksonville, NC Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan; the Carrboro, NC Bike Plan; and the Wake Forest, NC Trails Update Plan. Projects from her landscape architecture arsenal include managing design efforts for the Ladysmith Village Community Greenway System in VA; the Rocky River Greenway in Concord, NC; the Mt. Holly Linear Park in NC; and current phases of the RTP Pedestrian Trails Network in NC.
After earning her BLA at the University of Georgia, Brittain worked in several sustainable design firms in Santa Barbara, California as junior landscape architect and project manager. While in California, she participated in a range of projects from large scale planning and urban design to estate gardens. She also maintained her interest in ecological concepts by studying native plant communities and stormwater BMP’s. Before joining Greenways Inc., Brittain worked briefly in Durham, NC implementing her strong skills in planting design and graphic design.
Brittain is looking forward to advancing her career at Greenways Inc. by applying her background in project development and research to promote a collective social and ecological infrastructure. Her passion for the natural environment and commitment to the concepts of health and nutrition are evident both in her work and lifestyle. Brittain enjoys cooking and wine, running and cycling, and yoga, among other things.
