Encouraging Bicycling and Walking

Greenways Incorporated is on the leading edge of alternative transportation design.

We prepared two case studies for the Federal Highway Administration, in conjunction with the Congressionally authorized National Bicycling and Walking Study. These studies examine the transportation potential and benefits of pedestrian and bicycle facilities and define national state-of-the-art planning guidelines and standards for implementing these facilities.

We have served as a subconsultant to transportation engineers in completing several bicycle and pedestrian plans for specific roadway corridors, including Route 1 in NJ, US 17 in SC, and Route 40 in DE. We have also completed regional comprehensive bicycle/pedestrian plans for Durham-Chapel Hill, NC; Portland, ME; Birmingham, AL; Charleston, SC; Dover, DE; Philadelphia, PA; Ocala, FL; and Murfeesboro, TN.
